Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C., on June 14, 2024, at 7:30 pm. In addition to honoring outstanding students at ISM, who will be chosen by audition in the spring, this grand event will also mark the 20th Anniversary of ISM’s founding. It is sure to be an evening of extraordinary talent and unforgettable performances in the heart of the nation’s capital!
Founded in 2004 by director Inja Stanic, the International School of Music has been a beacon of musical education in the greater Washington, D.C., metro area, nurturing aspiring musicians and fostering a love for the arts. ISM’s annual Honors Recitals, spanning from the performances at the Carnegie Hall, NY, Strathmore, Kennedy Center, and numerous Ambassador Community recitals, are a testament to the dedication, passion, and skill of ISM’s exceptional students who have excelled under the guidance of first-rate instructors, drawn from the world’s best music programs.
The Honors Recitals are just one of ISM’s initiatives to share music with the wider D.C. area community. In unique partnerships, ISM has collaborated with the Children’s Inn at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the ARC of Montgomery County, and Kids In Need of Defense (KIND). As part of this initiative, ISM is offering donated music lessons to children in need, providing them with the opportunity to discover and develop their musical talents.
“Partnering with organizations like the Children’s Inn at NIH, KIND, and ARC MoCo reflects ISM’s belief in the power of music to bring joy and inspiration to children facing various challenges,” Stanic said. “By providing these students with the gift of music education, ISM hopes to make a positive impact on their lives, offering them the chance to express themselves through a creative outlet.”
The Honors Recital at the Kennedy Center is not only a showcase of talent but also a celebration of community, unity, and the profound impact of music in our lives. Join ISM on this special evening as the Terrace Theater at the Kennedy Center becomes a stage for brilliance, featuring performances that range from classical masterpieces to contemporary gems, for instruments like piano, voice, guitar, violin, cello, flute, and more, by talented and hard-working students of all ages!
ISM’s 20th Anniversary performance will take place on Friday, June 14, at 7:30 pm, at The Terrace Theater at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts (2700 F St NW, Washington, DC 20566).
